Before & After Your Session

Fiber and FruitYou actually do not have eat differently before a colonic hydrotherapy session in order to achieve results.  However, if you are thinking of making your colonic session as effective as possible, we recommend refraining from eating red meats, processed foods and drinking carbonated beverages for a few days prior to your session.  In this way there will be less bulk and gas in the digestive tract to allow for more effective cleansing during your session.

We do however ask that you not eat for two hours before your therapy, so as to reduce the amount of undigested food in the stomach.  This is because an important aspect of the session is massage of the abdominal area to relax the muscles and help move fluid through all parts of the colon.  This can be uncomfortable if you have just eaten and your stomach is full.  Occasionally this is the reason for the mild cramping sensations some clients experience during their first session.  This is especially important if you are receiving Lymphatic Drainage of the abdomen with your session. 

We also recommend drinking large amounts of fluids throughout the day of your session in order to provide adequate hydration, but do not drink for the hour before your session.  Choose filtered water, natural fruit juices, a green drink or a chlorophyll drink for the best results and to balance your blood sugar.

After Your Colonic Session

Most people feel energized, lighter and more relaxed after their session, but occasionally people with a long-standing history of chronic constipation will feel tired and sleepy.  You may want to prepare for this by not rushing back to work or going out for a night of dancing right after your first session.  Instead plan to relax, rest and drink lots of fluids to flush out any remaining toxic material that may continue to be released in the hours following your session. 

Organic Yogurt for AcidophilusThe colonic process can also remove some intestinal flora so we may suggest replacement of that with HLC Synbiotic Intensive or High Potency formulas.  These natural bacterial strains can help boost immunity in the intestinal tract and support your body’s natural bowel function.  You may also need some natural fiber to strengthen the muscles essential for effective bowel movement.  Whole Food Fiber powder and Gastro Fiber capsules are just the thing, without the gluten from psyllium or synthetic fillers commonly found in commercial over the counter fibers.  If you don’t have a bowel movement for a day or two after your session, then a lack of fiber may be the reason. 

Some people experience an increase in thirst after their session, an indication that you have been chronically dehydrated for quite some time.  Many people don’t realize how much water their body is truly missing until an infusion of water, such as in your colonic session, makes plenty of water available to the body.  This kicks in your thirst mechanism and your body then signals its need for water.  You can get your cellular hydration back on track with our ionized Kangen Water.  This is the most effective way to rehydrate, restore proper pH and increase your antioxidant levels.  Be sure to drink ½ hour body weight in ounces per day.
