The history of chiropractic dates from Daniel David Palmer in 1895 who opened the first school of chiropractic medecine in Iowa. Originally chiropractic was very much like osteopathy, looking at the entire alignment of the individual and the ennervation of organs and glands by the nerves. Over time, much of the idea of chiropractic became limited to the spine and the cranial bones as well as the extremities became areas addressed by cranial-sacral therapists and physical therapists.
At ISIS our ChiroWellness sessions are reminiscent of the original comprehensive chiropractic approach taught in the early years of the Palmer College of Chiropractic. Evaluations include diet and nutrition, illness history, physical injury assessment and range of motion ability. Our sessions give you a very personal approach and the time needed to truly understand your structure's needs. You may find that the pain in your head is actually coming from your feet!
Chiropractic Craniopathy is an advanced form of Sacro-Occipital technique (SOT) focusing on the physical position of the 22 interlinked bones of teh skull and how the position of these bones affects cerebro-spinal fluid and the health of the entire central nervous system. Light pressured adjustments are made to realign the cranial bones which are barely noticeable, but provide profound changes in the senses, head pain, nerve symptoms and brain function.
Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique (CMRT) was a technique originally known as "bloodless surgery" where reflex points would be pressed to reduce congestion and symptoms in corresponding organs. This technique was practiced and refined by Major Bertrand DeJarnette who mapped out the reflex points for everything from the ileocecal valve to the gallbladder and pancreas. This technique can help to aleviate pain, discomfort and chronic symptoms in all parts of the body that may originate in the visceral organs.
Manual Chiropractic Joint Manipulation is the traditional approach to realignment of joints. This gentle hands-on approach can realign everything from the bones in the head to the heels of the feet. Misalignment of joints can contribute to reflexive pain in nearby and dependent joints, poor postural alignment during movement and premature erosion of joint surfaces (arthritis). By maintaining healthy alignment of all joints in the body, you can experience a lifetime of healthy joint use, ease of movement and optimal organ function. Other chiropractic techniques such as activators cannot provide the same complete realignment of all joints in the body as effectively as manual manipulation.

The scientist who developed the PSA test never intended for it to be used as a diagnostic tool. In fact, he said he would never advocate the use of the PSA test on healthy men since it was so inaccurate when used in this way.
