The Clinical Background of Ionized Water
Electrolyzed ionized water has been used in Japanese hospitals, medical clinics, day care centers and health spas since the 1960's. It was found in hundreds of books, articles and clinical studies that this water affects every cell of the human body, and if it does that, then it can affect our collective consciousness at a level that we may not even yet understand. People who drank this water have said not only that they experienced health benefits, but changes in their conscious outlook, their emotional lives, even their sense of purpose... all in positive ways. We have a lot to learn about this incredible water, but how it works is something we do understand:
Micro-Clustering for Better Absorption
Water molecules do not remain separate. Instead, they cluster into polarized groups, making them somewhat difficult to absorb at a cellular level. This is the leading reason why people are chronically dehydrated, even though they may be drinking sufficient amounts of water. This is also a leading cause of toxicity problems in the body and the lack of proper detoxification that many people experience.
The ionization process of water uses electrolysis to change the polarity of the water molecules. As a result, the grouping of molecules becomes smaller, a quality known as microclustering. Smaller groups mean more water can be absorbed by cells instead of being left in the blood and lymph.
By fully hydrating the body, often for the first time in years, all the body tissues, organs and systems can function at a healthier level. Water is the one fluid your cells freely accept through the process of osmosis, which allows water to move through the cell membrane without a carrier, making it the perfect medium to carry nutrients, remove waste material and create metabolic reactions. Increased cellular hydration means that the pathways of elimination and the processes by which the body cleanses itself are more active, preventing the buildup of toxic debris and carcinogens that lead to disease.
One of the most noticeable effects of this hydrating effect is on the intestinal tract. The common concept of Leaky Gut Syndrome may actually be most often a case of severe dehydration allowing cracks to form in the lining of the gut due to the drying nature of acidic foods and chemicals. Strong Antioxidant Properties
Every substance has the ability to affect living tissue at a molecular level. These chemical reactions can break down the integrity of cells and tissues causing them to rapidly age and even die. This process is called oxidation. These oxidative processes are natural to the body, but can also be greatly increased by the effects of stress, pollution, unhealthy foods, heavy metals, toxic exposure and even pharmaceutical drugs.
This accelerated process occurs because of the volume of positive ions or oxidants that are present in the body's blood, organs and tissues. An antioxidant is any substance that interferes with or prevents this oxidizing process from occurring, slowing the aging process of cells and helping to protect cells from the toxic load the body sustains. Electrolyzed ionized water is just that powerful. In 2002 at the meeting of the Japanese Functional Water Association, research was presented that reported that only this water was effective in controlling the oxidation of lipids. It has the strongest antioxidant potential of any beverage you can drink. Even orange juice, long revered for its antioxidant properties is far exceeded by the effects of this water.
The ability of any liquid to oxidize or age living tissue can be measured. The scale that is used is called the ORP or Oxidative-Reduction Potential. If the number is positive, then the liquid will oxidize living tissue. The higher the number, the stronger that liquid can degenerate tissue and age the body. If the liquid has a negative ORP, then it is an antioxidant and helps to slow and prevent degeneration and aging. The more negative the number, the stronger its antioxidant capability. Like the water of the Hunza Valley where inhabitants have lived to be 100 to 120 years, electrolyzed ionized water has a strong and stable negative ORP, unlike bottled, tap or filtered waters.

Alkalinization of the Body
The third quality of electrolyzed ionized water is its strongly akaline pH. The human body has many different pH levels throughout its tissues, fluids and systems. For instance the stomach can be as acidic as 1.2 while the blood is ideally 7.3 to 7.45. Our body contains many buffering agents and gateways to maintain proper pH in each area, however that can be very difficult with the exposure we have every day to pollutants, chemicals, toxic waste material, pharmaceutical drugs and the acidic foods that populate our plate at every meal. Our buffering systems can become overwhelmed by the volume of highly acidic substances that we eat, drink and inhale.
By substituting highly alkaline drinking water for beverages, cooking water and bathing water, we are taking the strain off of these buffering systems by creating an internal environment that is less acidic, so our buffering systems have less work to do in maintaining a healthy pH.
The truth is that the greatest cause of disease, pain, rapid aging and early death is the failure of these buffering systems to keep up with the onslaught of acidic exposure we have, and so our bodies lose their ability to maintain pH.
Alkalinization also increases fermentation, which is an essential part of our digestive process. The traditional cultures that have relied on fermentation as part of health, have used free-flowing river and glacial waters in the preparation of food. Electrolyzed ionized water reproduces this natural "tumbling" effect. Drinking and cooking with this water then enhances fermentation and production of intestinal gut flora reducing symptoms of gas, bloating, constipation and even Candida.

The ionization process kills all pathogens and once water has been ionized it will remain germ free. This was the secret the Roman legions understood by placing coins in their water goatskins. While riding, the coins would rub together creating an ionization process, and the water in the goatskin would remain pathogen free.
